If you are a homeowner at risk of losing your home, NHS is here to help you find solutions to keep your home. As a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, NHS has saved more than 10,000 homeowners from foreclosure since 2003.
Homeowners will receive one-on-one support from a certified housing consultant who will assess your current financial and mortgage situation. The housing consultant will work to identify a solution to help you make your home more affordable and assess foreclosure prevention options.
Options may include:
- Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) - enables borrowers with little or no equity to refinance into more affordable mortgages without new or additional mortgage insurance.
- Illinois Hardest Hit Fund Program - provides up to $35,000 in mortgage assistance to homeowners who have experienced at least a 15 percent income reduction due to a qualifying hardship event and who meet the eligibility criteria.
- I-Refi Program - helps income-eligible homeowners who are current on their mortgage payments but owe more than their home is worth due to declining property values in their community.
- Loan Modification Program - a restructuring of your mortgage where terms of the loan are changed to provide a more affordable payment.
