Landscape Design Guidelines

The Chicago Greystone & Vintage Home Program has partnered with Christy Webber Landscapes to develop a comprehensive set of Design Guidelines to enhance the beauty, personal character, and sustainability of any Chicago vintage home. The goal of the Design Guidelines is to provide the average homeowner with the tools and resources needed to plant a garden that meets their particular site, time, and budget considerations. Written with the particular constraints of Chicago’s standard 25-foot wide by 125-foot deep lots in mind, the Design Guidelines offer practical and accessible guidance addressing:

  • Basic principles of good landscape design
  • Site considerations (i.e., sun/shade, soils, and water)
  • Plant selection
  • Seasonal maintenance, weeds, and pests

The Landscape Guidelines are available for free for reading and reference in a digital reader format via the Issuu digital publishing platform (above). Print versions of the Landscape Guidelines are available for purchase at Christy Webber Farm & Garden at 2200 West Grand Avenue in Chicago.
