Established in 1975, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, Inc. (NHS) is a nonprofit, HUD-certified housing counseling organization committed to helping homeowners and strengthening neighborhoods. Neighborhood Lending Services, Inc. (NLS), an NHS-affiliated corporation, is Illinois’ largest nonprofit lender for homeowners and new home buyers. NHS provides affordable resources for Chicago and Elgin residents so that they can buy, fix & keep their homes.

Services offered include:

• Affordable Fixed-Rate Mortgage Loans for Home Purchase & Rehab (NLS)

• Affordable Fixed-rate Home Improvement Loans to help you improve your home and keep it safe and secure

• Free Foreclosure Prevention Services, including free workshops in English & Español, ‘Fix Your Mortgage’ and ‘Keep Your Home’ events, and information about the Federal government’s Home Affordable Modification Program

• Free Homebuyer Education Classes in English & Espanol, individual consultation, and mortgage pre-approvals

• New & Rehabbed Homes for Sale/Rent

A nonprofit organization established in 1975, NHS is committed to offering Chicago residents affordable resources so they can buy, fix, and keep their homes. We partner with residents, block clubs, neighborhood organizations, financial institutions, the City of Chicago, insurance companies, corporations and foundations so that families can protect and preserve their single biggest investment—their homes.
