From 2009 through October 2011, NHS held a series of events across the City of Chicago called "Fix Your Mortgage," as well as the "Keep Your Home" events in suburban locations.
These events provided assistance to homeowners who are struggling with their mortgage payments. At these events, homeowners were able to meet one-on-one with their servicer, a housing counselor or volunteer who determined if they are eligible for the federal Home Affordable Modification Program, other loan modification or a government homeowner emergency loan program, Illinois Hardest Hit program.
