HOPI Services

NHS provides the following services through HOPI:

  • Pre-Purchase Education. NHS offers a four-part, eight-hour curriculum to prepare potential home buyers to make wise choices in their home purchase and mortgage financing, and to provide them with the information and education that will make them successful homeowners.  To learn more, click here.
  • Loss Mitigation Counseling. NHS helps customers avoid foreclosure by working with their lenders to develop repayment plans, loan modifications, or forbearance agreements.  In preparation for working with the lender, NHS counselors help delinquent borrowers explore all options available to them and assist them in gathering the documentation the lender will need to accurately judge individual situations.  To learn more, click here.
  • Foreclosure Prevention Loans. In some cases NHS is able to help a family save its home from foreclosure with a new loan, either to help homeowners catch up on their payments or to refinance homeowners into a more affordable fixed rate mortgage.  Homeowners receiving this type of financing are required to participate in both NHS’ Foreclosure Prevention Workshop and individual foreclosure prevention counseling.  Income eligibility requirements apply to these loans.  To learn more, click here.
  • Reclamation of Foreclosed and Vacant Properties. NHS’ real estate development arm, the NHS Redevelopment Corporation (NHSRC), acquires foreclosed, vacant properties from a variety of sources and rehabilitates them for sale to new homeowner occupants.  NHSRC takes steps to ensure affordability to the end user.  To learn more, click here.
  • Purchase Rehab Loans. NHS provides purchase/rehabilitation loans and major rehab services to owner-occupant borrowers.  To learn more, click here
