The Chicago Department of Environment’s HEET program is now accepting applications for its weatherization program. This program helps families save on winter heating bills by making their homes more energy efficient.
Applicants must live in a single-family or 2-4 unit home in the City of Chicago and meet income eligibility requirements. Read this fact sheet and intake form to learn more about the program.
To Apply
A program application must be completed to be considered for the HEET Program. Applications will be accepted in 3 ways:

Funded by ratepayers of Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas, this rogram offers cash rebates to eligible customers for ENERGY STAR-qualified products. Eligible products for the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program include qualifying gas furnaces, boilers, water heaters and attic insulation. Eligible homeowners may receive up to a $400 rebate, depending on the upgrade.
Products need to be purchased and installed between July 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 (for Peoples Gas customers) and between April 16, 2010 and May 31, 2011 (for North Shore Gas customers).
The offer is valid from July 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011 (for Peoples Gas customers) and from April 16, 2010 to May 31, 2011 (for North Shore customers), or until funds are depleted, whichever comes first.
