Make a Difference in our Neighborhoods
As trusted nonprofit housing, counseling, and lending organizations, NHS and NLS are committed to offering people affordable resources so they can
buy,
fix or
keep their homes. Our success is a result of the commitment of our volunteers, customers, partners, and donors. People get involved with NHS because they want to enact change, empower people, and sustain homeownership in
Chicago's neighborhoods, and, since 2006, in Elgin and Kane County through the
NHS of the Fox Valley office.
Founded in 1975, NHS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Our mission is to create opportunities for individuals to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their neighborhoods.
NHS' unique structure allows residents, business leaders and government officials to come together to build strong communities. This ranges from planting flowers and organizing blood clubs to leadership and major sponsorship opportunities to investing in NHS' innovative loan pool Here's a few ways to get involved with NHS:
Financial Support
• NHS needs your support now more than ever. Demand has increased tremendously for our programs and services, which help make the Chicago region a better place to live for all families – your financial support makes this possible.
• We are thankful for our donors and are happy to recognize them on signage, NHS’ newly designed website, e-newsletter, Annual Report and with our new social media presence – Facebook and NHS’ YouTube channel.
